Another trip across the pond this time to the beautiful British Virgin Islands – first time back there since we shot M/Y Lone Ranger and pleased to report that very little has changed. Nice to have a day between arriving and first shoot day too – a rare opportunity to see a little of Tortola and have a day on the beach!
Once again we were blessed with glorious weather – touch and go whether the drone would like the Caribbean winds but it seemed perfectly happy in 18 knots! M/Y Moliver is a stunning 32m Sunseeker yacht with a truly brilliant captain & crew who really couldn’t have done any more to help us and it’s huge thanks to them that we returned with some great results.
Thanks to Ben Young and the awesome team at SYM
Early start to the season this year as the Big Dog Crew headed to Cannes – usually the heart of Riviera entertainment and shows, the beautiful city of Cannes was extremely quiet pre-season which actually suited us perfectly! Add in a few days of sunshine, a beautiful old Feadship and and we were very content!
Big Dog Media Productions were selected to create this exciting edit for Team CQS, documenting the extraordinary story and her race from Sydney to Hobart. All images and footage courtesy of CQS Racing.
Final edit from our shoot onboard M/Y Step One – thanks to the Big Dog team who made it all happen and to an awesome Captain & crew.
Even better when you receive an email from the owner : “Please send my compliments and thanks to the video production team, they nailed it.”
See you very soon Costa Rica!
Our brilliant food photographer, Rob Whitrow, was commissioned to shoot a selection of amazing dishes for the stunning Rockcliffe Hall in North Yorkshire.
Another opportunity to use the new drone this week onboard the gorgeous M/Y Volpini!
We produced both stills & film over this 2 day shoot in Cannes Bay this week – slightly challenging but aided by an awesome Captain & crew, so massively important to have a great team on your side when you’re tight on time!
Winston Churchill had a few favourites…Madeira wine, Romeo y Julieta cigars and M/Y Talitha, the graceful 80m classic motor yacht built in 1929 by Krupp and reconditioned by Devonport with interior design by Jon Bannenberg.
We had the chance to shoot her during her stay in Antibes – great shoot with Edmiston and huge thanks to her amazing crew!
Huge treat this year to be invited to the Monaco GP again with Y.CO – great vantage point and pleased to report that the cars sound fantastic again – thank you Mr Ecclestone!
Great race too – started in the pouring rain but the Monte Carlo sunshine appeared soon after which meant quick tyre changes and juggling of team tactics in the pits! Lewis Hamilton was victorious on his home circuit once again – to the delight of team Big Dog!
Great opportunity to use the new Aquatech underwater housing for the Canon gear, and interesting lessons learned too!
Firstly, Aquatech gear is brilliant – well made and does exactly what it says on the tin. Secondly – shooting jetskis and wake boarders from the water is not a great idea unless the cameraman is wearing a helmet because actually it’s bloody dangerous! Fortunately Malcolm managed to shoot everything he wanted and come out unscathed, but it was a little scary at times…bright orange helmet required next time!
Huge thanks to Y.CO & Captain and crew of M/Y Altitude – awesome bunch of guys that made it all possible!
Back to Bremerhaven this week to shoot the world’s largest expedition yacht M/Y Luna undergoing sea trails after her refit at Lloyd Werft. The North Sea was quite a challenge especially for our drone guys but I think we managed to capture some of the excitement and drama of the trip with a great video.
Thanks to the Captain & crew for their huge help during a fairly full-on couple of days!
